Invest 2,000,000?
If the Town Council had sold the land that it is giving over to "affordable housing", the proceeds - roughly $2,000,000 could have been invested instead. How much revenue per year to the Town might that generate? This should have been considered fully before taking this action.

Tax comparisons and value received
I decided to check on our previous home in Virginia - Fairfax County - McLean and the current tax rate. It is 1.128 plus $345 for refuse colleciton. Perhaps it is because homes are valued so much higher there? What else explains why our rate here in Chapel Hill of 1.56, I believe, for next year?

I recall reading, when I was growing up, that "if everyone sweeps in front of his house, the whole street is clean". That made and makes sense. Why do we all pay - through our taxes - to have a truck drive the roads of Chapel Hill sweeping up leaves? Why are we not encouraged to compost our leaves?

"Sign up for WeatherCall" - why not "Sign up for PoliceReport"?

We got a call yesterday afternoon saying that we should call 911 if we saw someone named Jeffery Lamar Dall (sp), 20 years old, possibly wearing white t-shirt and blue jeans, who was last seen running near 5008 Cascade Drive. I never heard anything more and a Google search returns nothing. It seems to me that there should be a place where we can go to get the "rest of the story" on these calls.

Find Telemarketers with 973-273 Numbers | Report Telemarketing Calls
I got a call from this number starting off with FBI reports and asking to put a sign in my yard. I pushed the option for do not call, called the number and got the same do not call option and pressed that one the second time, with a message telling me it would take up to 24 hours.
Why is it that this phone seems to remain in service? Is there no one at the FTC, FCC or at the state level able to go after these people?
The number appears to be one served by Verizon. I looked to see if there was a way to report such things to Verizon and nothing popped up on my first search.

In this case, let's make sure the public record - here, for example - shows the make and model of the gun involved in this incident, along with serial number. Let's answer the question publicly about the origin of the gun. Who bought it? When? How many owners has it had? How did it change ownership if it did? Where is it now? If with the police, what will they do with it short and long term? If taken out of circulation, how? If not, what happens to it, both during the disposition of the criminal charges and beyond?
